Baby it's cold outside

It's cold in Texas - we're not used to this. I need a couple of warm bodies in my lap to warm up. Now who could that be? Hmm...

You all have a wonderful day and stay warm!

Magical lights

There is something special and sort of magical about Christmas and all of the lights and ornaments and decorations.

Neidon is old enough to figure out something is going on and he likes it.

Take time to really enjoy this holiday season. It'll be spring before we know it.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's off to work I go

Workdays are a real bear. At least we have casual Friday so I can shed this tie.

I want to be like Grandpa Adams - he's sitting home on his computer working in his pajamas.

Good to go

Okay - NOW you can decorate the tree. It's AFTER Thanksgiving.

Everybody jump in - no excuses.

Sunday, November 26, 2006

So fickle

You don't move to a new town and pick a new team. A true fan sticks by his team thick or thin, stay or move.

But he does look good in the outfit!

This tree is Neidon's get-a-way. He likes to play behind it.

Black Friday is over

This is worth jumping about - Black Friday is over. In case you live under a rock, Black Friday is what the shopping day after Thanksgiving has been called for several years now. It's where the merchants can get into the black for selling so much stuff and I believe it is such a dismal shopping event, that it's like the black day the market fell.

Anyway, here's our story. We see a couple of great buys, so we decide to go early and get back home quick as I have a 10 am client meeting. We should have known better!!

We get to the store at 6:45, make our select and are in line by 7 am - hey this is easy! The things we wanted were there, we didn't have to be there at 5 am, what's the big deal!!

We stood in line from 7 to 11 am - 4 hours! I even left for an hour to meet with the client and returned and Cindy was still in line.

Good thing - the couple (Mom and teenage son) in front of us were a real neat family - we're meeting next year - same place, same time for a reunion. Good idea?

Early Friday post

I have a client meeting tomorrow and lots of to do items so I am posting early.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

Here's a great looking guy!!

Remember to click photo to see larger.

Relax, it's Thanksgiving

After you decorate the tree this weekend, take time to relax with a loved one. Just make sure they want to relax too!

I warned you Neidon!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Be thankful in all things.

O tannenbaum

What! I'm just helping!

This is a holiday faux pax - you don't put up trees until AFTER Thanksgiving.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving! Have a great day.

November 22, 1963

A hero of mine died on this date in 1963. A man who stood for his principles and lived life to the fullest. A great scholar, a man of courage and an author.

The world may remember John F. Kennedy, or even Aldous Huxley who both died on this date. I remember C.S. Lewis, who is probably my favorite Christian author, next to the Bible, of course.

I recommend the Chronicles of Narnia, A Space Trilogy, A Grief Observed, Mere Christianity or The Screwtape Letters. Each is a favorite of mine, in its own unique way, of his many writings.

"There will be two kinds of people in the end: Those that will say to God 'Thy will be done' and those to whom God will say 'Thy will be done.'" -- C.S. Lewis

I warned you Neidon

The claw marks between here and Ohio were made by Cindy as I pulled her back home to San Antonio. It wasn't easy leaving grand-babies.

Neidon, didn't I warn you that you now had two mothers? Us guys have it hard.

It's Monday

Wow - a new week already. Here is a photo of a couple of my favorite people for you to enjoy and to get you going on this beautiful Monday.

It looks like Neidon is going to be a clothes horse. A fine looking guy.

Grandma's in hog heaven

This is an archive photo from the secure vault out of the basement, but I'm sure Cindy has her hands all over the kids just like you see here.

Enjoy church today!

Stairs

Why do kids love stairs so much? Our kids always wanted us to buy a house with stairs.

Maybe there is an architectural design theory there? Homes for adults are centered around the kitchen and family room - everyone gathers there. Homes for children are centered around the stairs. Maybe build bathrooms off of the landings, wider stairs for seats, .....

RIP

Milton Friedman died yesterday. If you're a conservative, his readings are a must. Friedman believed ..."that you have to have economic freedom to have political freedom." If you liked Reagan, you'd like Friedman as he was heavily influenced by his writings. If you're going to pick one of his books, start with Free to Choose.

Happy Superman

Superman is happy because his Grandma is spoiling him rotten.

You all have a wonderful weekend. I hope someone is spoiling you wherever you are too.

Rachel and Reed - the Early years

Here's our original Superman and his faithful sidekick a few years back. Rachel and Reed are looking pretty good here, huh?

Reed and Audrey

I'm posting early as I'm out most of the day in meetings. I'm also taking Cindy to the airport before most (decent) folks even get out of bed!

Anyway, here is Reed and his girl friend Audrey. A photogenic couple, if I might add.

Have a great day - the week is half over!

Able to climb steep steps

Caught by the paparazzi in a private moment, Superman's real identity was revealed to his evident dismay.

His sister said that it was only a matter of time until the truth leaked out. She said she was surprised he had maintained his cloak of anonymity for so long.

Getting excited

Kaireia is getting excited because her Grandma Adams is coming up to visit in a few days to spoil her. If I got spoiled half as much .....

You all have a wonderful week.

Sunday, November 12, 2006

Another oldie

This photo was taken about three years ago of Kaireia. I saw it and it made me wish I was doing something other than working today.

Hope you all are having a blessed Sunday.

Whoops

Sorry I'm behind. I had a meeting all morning and Cindy and I've squeezed in a seminar by Ray VanderLaan Friday evening and all day today as well.

Wow - Ray is simply an incredible Bible teacher. You learn something new in almost everything he says. An amazing seminar.

You all have a blessed weekend.

Reed's apartment

Reed is slowly getting settled into his new apartment. This was taken the day after we unloaded the trailer and he had barely begun to unpack. Yep - the old bachelor pad.

Lazy day

It's a little overcast this morning and appears to be a lazy looking day - the problem is, I'm booked with meetings all day. Oh well.

Here's our big boy - this was actually taken on his 1st birthday a few weeks back.

Wind Power

Wow - we passed a wind farm in west Texas that went on for miles. We saw hundred of windmills over hundreds of acres. A pretty impressive site.

I went out and did research and found out it had been here in operation since 1998. These pictures don't do it justice.

Go here or here for more information.

Stuck in Iraq

More here.

I hope you voted today!

Miners

Here's a wild bunch of prospectors. The one photo is simply a zoomed image from the larger one - enjoy!

It's great to be home!

Phoenix Sunset

As the sun sets in the west, we return home and crash.

Thanks for your prayers - it is great to be home.

This photo is in the IKEA parking lot in Phoenix.

More Goldfield

An interesting old mining and Ghost town which was actually in this location in the late 1800's.

Goldfield, Arizona - click here.

Goldfield, Arizona

Found these miners in Goldfield, Arizona. I believe my folks took Reed here before and he liked it so much we went back.

Of course, these aren't miners. Cindy, Reed and Audrey Harvey.

Having fun

We're having a great time with Reed. We went to an old mining town re-creation today and it was fun. This photo is Cindy with Rex on Thursday in Wilcox, AZ. (It's a statue - Rex Allen is dead).

We made it

We're in Mesa - the trailer came through unscathed. Here you can see it is bigger then the truck. More soon - the problem, no internet at the motel - I'm stealing a signal from one of Reed's neighbors!

Wednesday, November 01, 2006

Wilcox, Arizona

If you ever watched the old movie - "The Long, Long Trailer" - well, let me just say, this was a long day. The trailer we're pulling is full of Reed's belongings and we're wondering if we should have mailed it all to him and flown up - ha!

No photos today - it wouldn't be a pretty sight.

Sabbatical

We're probably on the road as you read this, heading to Mesa, Arizona. We haven't been out there for several years - it's about time.

You may not see pictures for awhile depending on motel internet access.
