Hummingbirds

Cindy put her Hummingbird feeder out last week and know we have them coming in like crazy. As least three we know spend their entire day coming to the feeder and one likes to sit on the patio rail - we call him the King.

Have a great week - we had rain yesterday and our grass looks great again.

Top of the morning to you

Good morning - here is a pretty face to get your day going! Taken back in March.

We had a fun weekend - we did some small projects around the house and we went to Cumberland Caverns on Saturday. It was a lot of fun - and a lot of walking.

We checked out some other stuff in the area as well - the caverns were only about an hour away from us. This is pretty country.

A little help

Neidon has always loved helping his sister.

You all have a wonderful Sunday and a great week.

Baby face

I went through some old photos and found this one of Kardia for you to enjoy.

No viewers on the S.A. house for about two weeks now - hmmm. Working on our loan for this house. Keep all that in your prayers. Thanks!

Have a great weekend. Love you all.

A teaching moment

Yesterday's photo was Katie working with Kaireia on learning to read - a great trait to excel in life.

Today's photo is my niece Laura teaching Neidon how to be the center of attention. Another valuable trait in which she seemed to have some real skills.

(I love you Laura!)

Have a wonderful day.

Count your blessings

Here are three of my blessings - thank you God!

Charlie and Anita Blair stopped by yesterday as they traveled from Virginia and on toward home - what a great visit - they looked terrific!

It may be okay living so near a major east and west highway!

Crocs are for kids

I love these on my grandkids, but I have to be honest, they are ugly on adults. Sorry for admitting this to all of my friends. Fishnet shirts are comfortable too, but I won't wear those either.

Can you guess whose shoes and legs belong to which grandkid? Pretty easy, huh?

More chalkin'

The weekend is almost over, so you've got to get that playing done before work begins! One last chalk picture.

We had a GREAT time with the Smith family from San Antonio!!

(Ask us about our mail box! Or Ask Greg!!)

Chalkin'

Kardia loves sidewalk chalk as much as her siblings! I think there is more on her than on the sidewalk.

I pray you've all had a wonderful week. We have San Antonio company coming today and we're EXCITED! We'll get the lowdown about what you Texans have been up to while we've been away.

Balancing Act

Neidon the magnificent will now walk and balance a cup on his head at the same time. Of course, the hat never comes off! And he is wearing his favorite t-short from a VBS at Castle Hills Christian Church that he never attended either. Clothes make the man, as they say.

Have a great day - good luck with your own balancing act, whatever that may be!

Citizens of Cookeville

Well, a month ago we were pulling into our driveway and wondering what in the world we had done!

A few days later we had visitors and all doubts were gone! We're closer to the grandkids - and those people who live with them.

One month

Well, we drove into Tennessee on June 9th - it's July 9th and it seems like we've been here much longer. These past few months have been a real whirl-wind. (Continue to pray we sell our house in S.A.) Greetings to our S.A. friends!!

Neidon has some buddies sitting with him here. I love his hat.

Tuesday, July 08, 2008

Say what?

I hear the carpenters on the house across the street - they were going around 6:30 this morning - lazy bums!

Another grand day! Make it a great one.

Kardia is having a great time as well.

Easy living

Nothing better than grandkids fighting over your lap. You also get to read stuff you normally wouldn't get to read.

A new week is off and running - hooray!

Sunday, July 06, 2008

Wake up - time for church

Have a great time at church today. We're still checking things out. We're praying that God leads us to where he wants us.

Remember, nap time is after church - not during the sermon!

Rainy Saturday

Good morning! We saw some fireworks from our front porch last night, but it was raining a little so we didn't want to climb the hill near us for a better view - next year!

It rained most of the night and is still overcast this morning. It's not been as dry as central Texas, but it has been dry for these here parts. The rain is a welcome sight!

Have a great weekend and someone in San Antonio - buy my house!

"It ain't over till the fat lady sings"

Dan Cook, a sportscaster from San Antonio, who introduced us to San Antonio sports and was a fixture there many of the years we lived there, died last night.

He introduced the phrase "It ain't over till the fat lady sings" along with many other colorful phrases over the years.

So long Dan!

Bus ride

Hidden hollow had this 'realistic' bus in their park. The kids enjoyed it no matter how realistic is was or wasn't - the tires don't look up to code!

Have a wonderful 4th of July! Thanks to our soldiers and veterans.

Also note that both grandkids wanted to drive no matter where they sat!

Thursday, July 03, 2008

Hiding

Kaireia likes to hide - and she likes it better when you are trying to find her - and the best part of all is when she is actually found.

Have a great 'Friday' on this Thursday and enjoy the long three day weekend if you have one.

What a great country we live in - thank you to our soldiers and veterans!

Don't yell in my ear!

In reality, what appears to be a marriage counseling session, is actually Kaireia standing several feet behind Neidon and laughing at Cindy who is not in the photo. For us married guys, it is a little spooky though!

Well, we have Tennessee drivers licenses now - are we official yet?

The last few evenings it has been cool when we do our evening walk and it is down to 60 degrees in the mornings - brrrr. Our blood has thinned down, anything below 80 is cold to an old Texan.

Off to Nashville today - look out Andrew Jackson!

Tuesday, July 01, 2008

Look at the camera

Hey - look over here at the camera - woohoo!

These guys aren't too bright.

Or maybe they are watching someone else to the left? We only hope so.

It's a new month and we now have Tennessean plates - are we official yet?

Monday, June 30, 2008

Full hands

Neidon likes to grip the sides of a slide and go down slow and gently if the slide is very long. It pays to be cautious.

And Kardia is just taking it all in. She loves watching her brother and sister.

We had lots of rain this weekend - it was great and our lawn loved it. We may have grass after all.

Sunday, June 29, 2008

A new week has begun

We miss our babies - it is so quiet around here. Cindy and I have to talk to each other!

Have a great new week - we had rain Saturday and it cooled down to 70 degrees. This Tennessee thing could work out alright.

Saturday, June 28, 2008

It's Saturday

Find some feathers, play on a rock, just have some fun!

I hope you had a great week like me.

We're getting settled here and it is starting to feel like home. Please drop us a line or email to say hello and we'll answer back. We miss our Texas friends and family!!

Friday, June 27, 2008

Greetings from happy Hollow

Other than the unpainted wood, rotted columns, cinder block porch supports, non-working water wheel, unkempt lawn and gravel miniature golf pit - the place had an ambiance all its own.

The great thing about kids - they didn't even notice that kind of stuff and had a great time anyway! (We did too!!)

Thursday, June 26, 2008

Hidden Hollow

This place was a dump, to put it nicely. The kids had a good time, but it was built 50 years ago and not maintained. Yuck!

The week is half over - have a great Thursday!!

Wednesday, June 25, 2008

We miss our babies!

It was too quiet when I got home last night and too quiet this morning! No kids running around and laughing and playing.

Rachel got home just fine but another long drive. We had a great time.

For your info - Reed had an offer he liked and accepted the job in Ohio. They move next month and he starts the first of August.

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Kids leave today

Rachel and the kids went home today - over an 8 hour drive. We had a great time.

Second week and all is well - this week's goals - (1) keep my job and (2) make room in the garage for Cindy's van.

Monday, June 23, 2008

Reading with friends

Kaireia and Neidon found a reading buddy. Katie and Matt came by and the kids had a good time with them. (And we did too)

Have a great week, get up and get going - the framers across the street have been going since 6 am.

Sunday, June 22, 2008

More family!

Kaireia, Neidon and Kardia can't believe all of the family they have! They have new folks to read and play with them.

You all have a great Sunday.

Saturday, June 21, 2008

I want to walk

Kardia has met a lot of new family members and seems to enjoy them, after she gets over the shyness.

Have a great weekend!

Friday, June 20, 2008

Worn out

I'm exhausted and ready for a weekend. A new job and company all week - a fun time but ...... sorry, I dozed off for a second there.

The gang here still laughs at my jokes so all is well.

Have a great Friday - I'm way behind with calls and cards and stuff so forgive me - please be patient - I haven't forgotten you!!

Thursday, June 19, 2008

Friends

Laura and Sandy came over Yesterday evening and we had a great visit.

The kids became instant friends with them, with Kardia taking just a bit longer. But you can see she did start to warm up to everybody.

Have a great week - we miss you all!

An 8 hour cruise!

Our daughter made an 8 hour trip from Columbus yesterday with three kids in the back of her mini-van to see us. Now that's courage!

Will take kid photos and pass on later this week.

They haven't fired me yet - this may work out!

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Water, water everywhere

I had my first day at my new company today - I survived! Let's see how the first week plays out.

The grandkids are having a great time playing in the water. The rain coats are a great look.

Monday, June 16, 2008

Cute chicks

You thought yesterday's post had some good looking guys - now check out the other side of the table!

Kardia looks a little bored.

Sunday, June 15, 2008

Dressing up

It's Sunday - time to put on your best and git to church.

I had my weekly bath last night so am rearin' to go!

These two good looking guys look all decked out for something special too!

Everything is ducky

We're 'home' in Cookeville - wow, that still sounds strange.

Everything we own is here, the trucks are gone, the adoring fans are gone, we've been left to our own devices.

I'm here at my computer again, all is right with the world.

Oh yes, we get Fox News again! Life is good.

Let us know if you need an address or phone number, we've told some folks and not others so give us a holler (Tennessee talk).

Cookeville

Well, I'm sitting on the floor in my new living room in Cookeville. We finished unloading the trailer today with the help of the Monroe gang, had a great lunch Matt grilled for us; we visited all afternoon and did a few store runs before coming home and crashing.

As you can see we have Internet access once more plus television (Welcome back Fox news!) with telephone to follow on Monday. We're off and running! Pictures to start back soon.

Echo

Well, I'm sitting on the floor in my family room as the furniture and most of my belongings are in the street in a 28' long semi-trailer. I'm watering the grass one last time and Cindy is vacuuming the office.

I'm stealing internet from some neighbor's wireless modem - thanks! Not sure how long this will last.

The trailer pick-up may be on Sunday and we leave early Monday morning.

We are packing vehicles today and tomorrow and we have a small Uhaul trailer with a few personal and most valuable belongings. We're about ready to roll.

Our zealous packers packed my coffee so we went out for breakfast this morning. Can't find our tape and a few other items we thought we had set aside - I'm sure they will turn up when we unpack - ha!

Well, my timer is going - need to move lawn hoses. Love you all!

Wow - this room is echo-ey!!

Thursday, June 05, 2008

Get on board

A scary bus ride! Hang on for your life.

Darin and Kardia don't look too concerned.

Our trailer comes today - loading day has arrived!

Also, pray for us - a second showing to some folks tonight who are getting real interested!

2,000 pound gorilla

I feel like I'm facing a 1 ton gorilla trying to box up this office. I think I've already used 30 some book boxes and another 3 or 4 larger boxes and it will still take another 4 to 6 to complete, not counting furniture. Cindy just thought she retired last week - her new life is as a packer!

We are counting down - the semi-trailer comes Thursday and we have through Monday to load it up.

The girl with the Curl

Besides kissing that sweet back and soft shoulders, I'd like to check out that little curl at the back of her head!

Kardia sure looks busy with something!

Sorry - the blog site was down this morning and I couldn't post. Also, our Internet service will be gone later this week until we get moved - don't go crazy on me!

Thanks for all the birthday cards and calls yesterday too - you didn't get the memo as I was going to skip this year!

Something is funny

Kids are pretty open with their emotions - whether they are happy or they are sad.

Here is my happy little Kardia.
