Summer is over for kids

Do you remember how summer used to be so long? By the end of summer, your mom sent you outside and you were ready to come in before she wanted you to come back in.

"I'm bored, what is there to do?", was the typical end of summer kid phrase. Sometimes we even used it the 2nd day of summer!

A great rainy day in Tennessee - my grass looks wild!

It's Wednesday

Don't be sad - the week is half over!

I saw Lebanon, Tennessee yesterday - a teeming metropolis of about 60,000 people and the home town of Cracker Barrel.

Picking up rocks

This would be a good day to look at rocks along the Oregon coast.

Have a great day wherever you live!

Someone to watch over me

Neidon has always watched out for his sister. I remember when she was just a new baby, he would not get out of the car until we got her our first.

We all need someone to take care of us - some more than others! Have a great week.

Surprise!

Our little girl has graduated! Sandy has a bachelor's degree - hip hooray! We all snuck (or sneaked) over there and surprised here - if you don't know, she LOVES surprises. We had a great time and the food was great.

PS Accept these photos for Saturday and Sunday - our power was out much of last night so we are really off track.

Breakfast is important

I can see you - you are only drinking a coke or drinking coffee for breakfast - 'they' say breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

Kaireia has the right idea. Yum!!

Adoption

I have to be at the office at 5 am this morning, so I am just posting a link to our friends website. They live in San Antonio and go to Castle Hills Christian Church where we attended.

They are currently in China picking up their new daughter Claire! How exciting!! Please check out their web site and experience the joy that God is showering upon them as they enjoy their new daughter.

Here is the link.

Real grass

Yes, we finally have more than straw in our yard - we see some real grass. The back yard is still kind of pitiful yet, though. At least we have curb appeal!

Hummingbirds

Cindy put her Hummingbird feeder out last week and know we have them coming in like crazy. As least three we know spend their entire day coming to the feeder and one likes to sit on the patio rail - we call him the King.

Have a great week - we had rain yesterday and our grass looks great again.

Top of the morning to you

Good morning - here is a pretty face to get your day going! Taken back in March.

We had a fun weekend - we did some small projects around the house and we went to Cumberland Caverns on Saturday. It was a lot of fun - and a lot of walking.

We checked out some other stuff in the area as well - the caverns were only about an hour away from us. This is pretty country.

A little help

Neidon has always loved helping his sister.

You all have a wonderful Sunday and a great week.

Baby face

I went through some old photos and found this one of Kardia for you to enjoy.

No viewers on the S.A. house for about two weeks now - hmmm. Working on our loan for this house. Keep all that in your prayers. Thanks!

Have a great weekend. Love you all.

A teaching moment

Yesterday's photo was Katie working with Kaireia on learning to read - a great trait to excel in life.

Today's photo is my niece Laura teaching Neidon how to be the center of attention. Another valuable trait in which she seemed to have some real skills.

(I love you Laura!)

10 months old

Kardia is 10 months old! And this past weekend, she started taking steps - look out world, here she comes!

Count your blessings

Here are three of my blessings - thank you God!

Charlie and Anita Blair stopped by yesterday as they traveled from Virginia and on toward home - what a great visit - they looked terrific!

It may be okay living so near a major east and west highway!

Crocs are for kids

I love these on my grandkids, but I have to be honest, they are ugly on adults. Sorry for admitting this to all of my friends. Fishnet shirts are comfortable too, but I won't wear those either.

Can you guess whose shoes and legs belong to which grandkid? Pretty easy, huh?

More chalkin'

The weekend is almost over, so you've got to get that playing done before work begins! One last chalk picture.

We had a GREAT time with the Smith family from San Antonio!!

(Ask us about our mail box! Or Ask Greg!!)

Chalkin'

Kardia loves sidewalk chalk as much as her siblings! I think there is more on her than on the sidewalk.

I pray you've all had a wonderful week. We have San Antonio company coming today and we're EXCITED! We'll get the lowdown about what you Texans have been up to while we've been away.

Balancing Act

Neidon the magnificent will now walk and balance a cup on his head at the same time. Of course, the hat never comes off! And he is wearing his favorite t-short from a VBS at Castle Hills Christian Church that he never attended either. Clothes make the man, as they say.

Have a great day - good luck with your own balancing act, whatever that may be!

Citizens of Cookeville

Well, a month ago we were pulling into our driveway and wondering what in the world we had done!

A few days later we had visitors and all doubts were gone! We're closer to the grandkids - and those people who live with them.

One month

Well, we drove into Tennessee on June 9th - it's July 9th and it seems like we've been here much longer. These past few months have been a real whirl-wind. (Continue to pray we sell our house in S.A.) Greetings to our S.A. friends!!

Neidon has some buddies sitting with him here. I love his hat.

Say what?

I hear the carpenters on the house across the street - they were going around 6:30 this morning - lazy bums!

Another grand day! Make it a great one.

Kardia is having a great time as well.

Easy living

Nothing better than grandkids fighting over your lap. You also get to read stuff you normally wouldn't get to read.

A new week is off and running - hooray!

Wake up - time for church

Have a great time at church today. We're still checking things out. We're praying that God leads us to where he wants us.

Remember, nap time is after church - not during the sermon!

Rainy Saturday

Good morning! We saw some fireworks from our front porch last night, but it was raining a little so we didn't want to climb the hill near us for a better view - next year!

It rained most of the night and is still overcast this morning. It's not been as dry as central Texas, but it has been dry for these here parts. The rain is a welcome sight!

Have a great weekend and someone in San Antonio - buy my house!

"It ain't over till the fat lady sings"

Dan Cook, a sportscaster from San Antonio, who introduced us to San Antonio sports and was a fixture there many of the years we lived there, died last night.

He introduced the phrase "It ain't over till the fat lady sings" along with many other colorful phrases over the years.

So long Dan!

Bus ride

Hidden hollow had this 'realistic' bus in their park. The kids enjoyed it no matter how realistic is was or wasn't - the tires don't look up to code!

Have a wonderful 4th of July! Thanks to our soldiers and veterans.

Also note that both grandkids wanted to drive no matter where they sat!

Hiding

Kaireia likes to hide - and she likes it better when you are trying to find her - and the best part of all is when she is actually found.

Have a great 'Friday' on this Thursday and enjoy the long three day weekend if you have one.

What a great country we live in - thank you to our soldiers and veterans!

Don't yell in my ear!

In reality, what appears to be a marriage counseling session, is actually Kaireia standing several feet behind Neidon and laughing at Cindy who is not in the photo. For us married guys, it is a little spooky though!

Well, we have Tennessee drivers licenses now - are we official yet?

The last few evenings it has been cool when we do our evening walk and it is down to 60 degrees in the mornings - brrrr. Our blood has thinned down, anything below 80 is cold to an old Texan.

Off to Nashville today - look out Andrew Jackson!

Look at the camera

Hey - look over here at the camera - woohoo!

These guys aren't too bright.

Or maybe they are watching someone else to the left? We only hope so.

It's a new month and we now have Tennessean plates - are we official yet?
